Mechanisms for Overpressure Development in Marine Sediments

چکیده
Overpressure is widely developed in marine sediments; it not only a critical factor related to hydrocarbon accumulation, but also serious safety issue for oil/gas exploration and exploitation. Although the mechanisms overpressure development sedimentary basins have been intensively studied, some new are proposed with advancements geological investigation, e.g., natural gas hydrate formation microbial activity. In this study, reviewed further classified as being associated physical, chemical, biological processes. The physical include disequilibrium compaction, sealing, degasification, buoyancy, hydrothermal pressuring, tectonic movement, transfer, etc. chemical ascribed decomposition, diagenesis, generation, mainly induced by production plugging. hydrate-bearing sediments, affecting distribution of hydrate. systems permeability deterioration due free accumulation below bottom-simulating reflectors (BSR). developments generally sediment layer low above below, sulphate–methane interface (SMI), because methane will be consumed anaerobic oxidation SMI.

Erosion Mechanisms in Marine Sediments
Erosion of intertidal sediments may be influenced by several factors. In this study, the influence on sediment erosion of some physical mechanisms such as the sediment bed roughness, suspended particles and surface waves was investigated. Because of the complexity of the phenomena involved, careful experiments have been planed in order to make each mechanism dominant and to assess its contribut...
متن کاملDiscrete Scattering in Marine Sediments
Testing various models and mechanisms of high frequency seabed scattering was one of primary goals of recent major experiments in sediment acoustics, SAX99 and SAX04, conducted near Ft. Walton Beach, Florida [1-4]. The models to test were based on various assumptions about dominance of certain scattering mechanisms and corresponding theories of scattering. Such models, confirmed by experiments,...

متن کاملAnoxic nitrification in marine sediments
Nitrate peaks are found in pore-water profiles in marine sediments at depths considerably below the conventional zone of oxic nitrification. These have been interpreted to represent nonsteady-state effects produced by the activity of nitrifying bacteria, and suggest that nitrification occurs throughout the anoxic sediment region. In this study, ΣNO3 peaks and molecular analysis of DNA and RNA e...
متن کاملdevelopment and implementation of an optimized control strategy for induction machine in an electric vehicle
in the area of automotive engineering there is a tendency to more electrification of power train. in this work control of an induction machine for the application of electric vehicle is investigated. through the changing operating point of the machine, adapting the rotor magnetization current seems to be useful to increase the machines efficiency. in the literature there are many approaches wh...
